We were excited to see a Pacific Baza on the cruise recently. We don't often see them on the river. They are also known as a Crested Hawk, Crested Baza or Pacific Cuckoo-falcon.

They and are a beautiful bird with very distinctive markings. They have a small black crest on the back of a grey head and enormous yellow eyes and prominent brown stripes on a white belly. They frequent forested areas and hunt in the canopies for stick insects, tree frogs, small reptiles, nesting birds and other insects.
